Deal with Your Fears

If you become a passive self-observant and observe yourself and your actions intently for a day or two, you will realise that the most dominant feelings of your daily existence is fear. Fear limits and shapes our actions in myriad ways. The way we dress, the way we communicate with the world in general consciously or unconsciously, the way we establish relationships with people and things, the way we take different decisions, accumulate things or form opinions or stand points, are influenced substantially, if not completely, by our self preservation instinct, which in simple term means our concern for survival. All our efforts in this world are guided by this singular most concern, which has many other guises, our concern for approval, our concern for acceptance, our concern for having the best of everything. It is this concern, which drives us to have more and more of what we already have, in the anxiety that what we have may not be sufficient enough to protect us from scarcity whe...

Impact Of Negative Thoughts

Drive away from your mind all unnecessary, useless and negative thoughts. Useless thoughts impede your spiritual growth; obnoxious thoughts are stumbling blocks to your spiritual advancement. You are away from God when you are entertaining useless thoughts. Entertain only thoughts that are helpful and useful. Do not allow the mind to run into the old grooves and to have its own ways and habits. Be on the careful watch. Thoughts of sin haunts the mind of some people. One person always thinks, "I have committed a very heinous sin. I do not know what to do." Again and again, this one idea haunts his mind. This is a bad habit. These people do not know how to divert their minds. They become pray to these 'haunting thoughts'. Virtue and sin are relative terms. They are creations of the mind. Sin is nothing but a mistake. Remembering God's name, charity and fasting will destroy at one any amount of sin. You must eradicate through introspection all sorts of mean thou...

One-Man Power

Every successful concern is the result of a One-Man Power. Cooperation, technically, is an iridescent dream—things cooperate because the man makes them. He cements them by his will. But find this Man, and get his confidence, and his weary eyes will look into yours and the cry of his heart shall echo in your ears. "O, for some one to help me bear this burden!" Then he will tell you of his endless search for Ability, and of his continual disappointments and thwarting in trying to get some one to help himself by helping him. Ability is the one crying need of the hour. The banks are bulging with money, and everywhere are men looking for work. The harvest is ripe. But the Ability to captain the unemployed and utilise the capital, is lacking—sadly lacking. In every city there are many five- and ten-thousand-dollar-a-year positions to be filled, but the only applicants are men who want jobs at fifteen dollars a week. Your man of Ability has a place already. Yes, Ability is a ...

Make Today A Masterpiece

Most of us think our lives accumulate. We think they are adding up to something. We think of our lives as being strung together like a long smoky train, so that we can add new freight cards when we're feeling right, and dump the others when we're not. But when basketball legend John Wooden's father said to him, "Make each day your masterpiece," Wooden knew something profound: Life is now. Life is not later on. And the more we hypnotise ourselves into thinking we have all the time in the world to do what we want to do, the more we sleepwalk past life's finest opportunities. Self-motivation flows from the importance we attach to today. Most of us, however, don't want it to be this way. If someone asks us if today can be used as a model to judge our entire life by, we would shriek, "Oh no! It isn't one of my better days. Give me a year or two and I'll live a day, I'm certain of it, that you can use to represent my life." The key t...

Break Out Of Your Soul Cage

Our society encourages us to seek comfort. Most products and services advertised day and night are designed to make us more comfortable and less challenged. But, only challenge causes growth. Only challenge will test our skills and make us better. Only challenge and the self-motivation to engage the challenge will transform us. Every challenge we face is an opportunity to create a more skillful self. It is up to you to constantly look for challenges that motivate you. It’s up to you to notice when you’re buried alive in a comfort zone. It’s up to you to notice when you are spending your life, in the image of the poet William Olsen, like a flower “living under the wind.” Use your comfort zones to rest in, not to live in. Use them consciously to relax and restore your energy as you mentally prepare for your next challenge. But if you use comfort zones to live in forever, they become what rock singer Sting calls your “soul cages.” Break free. Fly away.

Keep Your Eyes On The Prize

Image
Most of us never really focus. We constantly feel a kind of irritating psychic chaos because we keep trying to think of too many things at once. There’s always too much up there on the screen. Most of us tend to lose our focus in life because we’re perpetually worried about so many negative possibilities. Rather than focusing on our goals, we are distracted by our worries and fears. But when you focus on what you want, it will come into your life. When you focus on being a happy and motivated person, that is who you will be.

Importance Of Self-Confidence In Life

Image
Self-confidence is arguably one of the most important things you can have. Self-confidence reflects your assessment of your own self-worth. It will play a large part in determining your happiness through life. Self-confident people trust their own abilities, have a general sense of control in their lives, and believe that, within reason, they will be able to do what they wish, plan, and expect. Having self-confidence does not mean that individuals will be able to do everything. Self-confident people have expectations that are realistic. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to be positive and to accept themselves. People who are not self-confident depend excessively on the approval of others in order to feel good about themselves. They tend to avoid taking risks because they fear failure. They generally do not expect to be successful. They often put themselves down and tend to discount or ignore compliments given to them. By contrast, self-confident peo...

MAKE USE OF YOUR OPPORTUNITIES

Three things happen when a person is in difficulties: - Firstly, he becomes depressed and loses focus. - Secondly, he becomes insecure and less confident. - Thirdly, he becomes dejected and cynical and develops a negative attitude towards the system that he believes gave him all the trouble. These three most unfortunate developments in his personality reduce his overall effectiveness and efficiency to recognise the many opportunities that he would have otherwise noticed and utilised successfully. Of these the first one takes away his sensitivity to identify the opportunities that come his way. The second and the third mental conditions prevent him from seizing the opportunities even though he clearly perceives them. In other words when a person is passing through adversity, he loses many opportunities to redeem himself from the adverse situation, where as what is required is to remain focused so that when the opportunities present themselves he becomes aware of them and seizes th...

Listening To Our Language

Because our attitudes and behaviours flow out of our paradigms, if we use our self-awareness to examine them, we can often see in them the nature of our underlying maps. Our language, for example, is a very real indicator of the degree to which we see ourselves as proactive people. The language of reactive people absolves them of responsibility. " That's me. That's just the way I am." I am determined. There's nothing I can do about it. " He makes me so mad !" I'm not responsible. My emotional life is governed by something outside my control.  " I can't do that. I just don't have the time." Something outside me --- limited time --- is controlling me. That language comes from a basic paradigm of determinism. And the whole spirit of it is the transfer of responsibility.  I am not responsible, not able to choose my response.  REACTIVE LANGUAGE PROACTIVE LANGUAGE 1.    There’s nothing I can do. Let’s ...

Challenges and Obstacles

The path to your goal is not always going to be smooth. Obstacles will arise and problems will develop, but you have to remember what you're striving for.... don't forget the big picture and don't let small mishaps or small failures stop you. Every obstacle or challenge you encounter on the journey transforms you as you acquire strength of character and the qualities and abilities you need to overcome the obstacle or challenge. The emergence of these qualities and abilities shape you into the kind of person you need to become to achieve your dream. For that reason, challenges and obstacles are great indications that you are well along the way on your journey. In fact, the bigger the obstacles and challenges you face, the bigger your success will be, and the closer you are to achieving it. If you have ever faced anything in your life that you had no choice but to overcome, you will have found strengths that you didn't know you had. Those strengths you gain from your...

Nobody Can Do It For You

Everything that changes in your life is up to you. You make all the changes. No one can force you to be certain way or feel something different or want something. It's all you. You need to push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you. The moment when you want to quit, is the moment when you need to keep pushing yourself. Just keep pushing yourself and stay focused. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. You will need to make healthy decisions. It requires sacrifice. You will need to push your body to its max. There will be temperature. But I promise you this when you reach your goal it will have been worth it. You can not expect to see a change if you don't make one. Nobody else can do it for you. Keep doing what you know in your heart is right for you. Let your dreams be bigger than your fears and your actions be louder than your words. Live by choice, not by chance. Make changes, not excuses. Be motivated, not manipulated. ...

Stay Kind

Stay kind. The world is already in so much negativism.  Be the person they didn’t see coming.  Overflowing with kindness, in a way that they can never empty, no matter how hard they try.  Stay kind because in this world, it is so easy to stay cruel and selfish, but to stay kind takes strength and courage.  Stay kind.  When times are easy.  When times are tough.  Forge your kindness into a shape, which cannot be changed. Fill it like your canvas.  Use it as your munition.  Stay kind.  And let this kindness shine light on the good and on the bad.  Stay kind to those who are kind to you.  But more importantly, stay kind to the unkind because you might be the person who gives them a second thought on why they choose to be unkind.  Stay kind and spread out your kindness like a garden.  Let the beauty of your kindness blossom.    Stay kind with all it takes.  Stay kind, it will make your wo...

That One Day

Everything is beautiful around you. You are happy in your life. You are happy with that one special person in your life who means everything to you. But one day everything is changed. Nothing seems like before. Nothing isn't the same. All misunderstanding, All fights, Have screwed it up. And one fine day, Everything comes to an end. You are blank and don't even know what to do. You are still waiting for that one special person to come back to you and say, "I LOVE YOU,  YOU MEAN EVERYTHING TO ME'' BUT, You are left all alone.

You Stay Attached To The Wrong Person

You stay attached to the wrong person when you wait for them to change. They won't change for you, they can only change for themselves. You stay attached to the wrong person when you limit yourself to one place. The world is huge, but often, we limit ourselves to the city we live in or our circle of friends and thats how we end up exaggerating our feelings towards someone. You stay attached to the wrong person when you try to convince yourself that they're right for you. You stay attached to the wrong person when you keep following their updates and their news, when you keep looking at their pictures and seeing how much fun they're having without you. You stay attached to the wrong person when they change everything you knew about love and you still accept it.
No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside. We cannot open the gate of another, either by argument or by emotional appeal.
